We love to talk about bread, pastries and all things in between.
What is sourdough?
Sourdough is a traditional breadmaking method that dates back to ancient Egypt, naturally leavened with wild yeast rather than commercial yeast. Our 48-hour fermentation improves flavour and digestibility, while natural acids help nutrient absorption and lower the GI. Made without preservatives, it’s crafted from simple ingredients and has a mild, distinctive sour flavour.
What is the best way to store my bread?
Storage depends on the bread, but it’s best kept in a paper or cloth bag. Compostable plastic bags help keep sliced bread fresh. Avoid storing bread in the fridge, as this dries it out quickly.
Do you slice bread?
Yes, we offer sliced bread in a toast or sandwich thickness however we always suggest buying a whole loaf and slicing yourself to get the most out of your bread.
Why is your crust so dark?
Our signature dark crust comes from long fermentation and the caramelisation of natural sugars, giving richer flavour and a chewy texture that contrasts the moist crumb. Industrial bread often favours pale loaves, but historically, darker breads were the standard — a tradition we’re proud to continue.
Can I freeze my bread and bagels?
Yes, we recommend freezing when it is fresh on the same day as you purchase the bread. Bagels will freeze very well but we do not recommend freezing pastry products as they are more fragile.
